Cummins VE & P pump throttle linkage
The kit includes:
(1) 6mm RH thread QA1 Rod End
(1) 6mm LH thread QA1 Rod End
(2) 6mm x 25mm Bolts
(2) 6mm nylock nuts
Kit requires the re-use of stock threaded rod and jam nuts. In most applications 1/4″ will need to be trimmed off the stock rod threads to obtain the correct overall length.
Remove the factory threaded rod and worn stock ball cups. Record length from center of ball cups. Remove ball cups from thread rod retaining stock jam nuts. Remove linkage balls from pump (unbolt) and throttle bracket (grind). Thread QA1 rod ends onto stock threaded rod making sure length from center of hole to center of hole matches earlier recorded measurement. If proper length can not be achieved shorten threaded rod accordingly. Use supplied hardware to attach new rod ends. Adjust throttle play to factory recommended specifications. These vids are old but worth their weight in gold.
Be sure to double check that the jam nuts are tight. If both loosen up the the rod length can grow or shrink from engine vibration.
*P-pump linkage rods do not need to be trimmed.
** Please make sure your application uses LH & RH threads. This kit will not work on rods with RH threads on both ends of the rod. I see this on the ’97 MY the most.
